Shaping Our Inclusion Project Worker
£14,160 per annum (fixed term contract till 30th June 2020)
We are recruiting a project worker (21 hrs p/w) for this innovative project for a fixed term contract ending 30th June 2020.
The project will give disabled people opportunities to become involved in the governance and running of GMCDP, helping to shape the direction of the organisation, as well as influence on areas such as campaigning, communications and membership.
The project worker will carry out outreach to disabled people who want to take an active role in the disabled people’s movement. The project worker will support them in their development of activism, campaigning and strategic influence; working towards challenging inequalities, discrimination and marginalisation. The aim of this project is to support the development of individuals as well as further develop, support and build on existing structures of governance within the organisation.
The project worker will have knowledge and experience of the social model of disability and barriers that young disabled people face. They will need to have good communication skills, inter-personal skills and the ability to support volunteers to develop and grow in their roles. We are looking for someone who has: experience of working with people in empowering and inclusive ways; of using a range of methods to engage people through outreach and networking; of running events and meetings; and developing resources innovatively and creatively.
