Hello
My name is Mark Wilson I am the exhibition officer at the People’s History Museum. The museum is the home of ideas worth fighting for – where our radical past can inspire and motivate people to take action – to shape a future where ideas of democracy, equality, justice and co-operation are thriving.
We are currently working on a long term project called Nothing About Us Without Us which looks at the representation of disabled people. We are working with groups, campaigners and individuals to collect new material and re-examine how we present the history of disability activism in an inclusive and accessible way.
The initial aim is a co-produced exhibition in the museum’s Engine Hall between Friday 5 April – Sunday 5 May 2019.
The museum is looking for more groups or individuals who can help to tell this story. The museum is interested in people’s perspectives and memories of disability activism and history. We would like to interview people either as a video or audio recording and include the interviews in the April exhibition. We will be recording these on
Saturday 9 March between 11am- 5pm.
If you’re interested we can arrange specific time slots for that day or arrange an alternative date. Please let us know if you require a BSL interpreter or have any other specific access needs. If you would prefer to remain anonymous on the recording we can record your voice but not your name. The museum can reimburse any local travel expenses but please let us know how much these will be before you arrive.
Please let me know if you would like any further information or would be interested in being involved
