CHANGE’s purpose is to challenge the injustices experienced by people with learning disabilities by addressing issues of power. Working as equal partners of people with disabilities, we use new ways to drive change and enable genuine inclusion.
CHANGE is joining the Advonet group from September 1st. Advonet is a Leeds-based advocacy organisation with complementary vision and values to those of CHANGE. The move will free CHANGE up to focus on its strengths of securing social justice for people with learning and other disabilities.
Under this new partnership arrangement, the direction of CHANGE, the manager and team will be steered by the CHANGE committee. The CHANGE committee will be supported Advonet’s Board of Trustees and Senior Management Team to develop and deliver its strategic plans; the Manager of CHANGE will be supported by Advonet to manage its day to day operations.

The Manager of CHANGE will ensure that the CHANGE team continues to be user led and support people with learning disabilities to develop opportunities in both volunteer and paid roles.
The CHANGE Manager will be responsible for leading the staff team, with a focus on maintaining the profile of the teams’ work, and sourcing and pursuing new funding opportunities for projects. The post-holder will also co-ordinate CHANGE’s accessible information and easy read design service. CHANGE has a team of volunteers with learning disabilities.
The post will include volunteer management and recruitment, and provision of effective training and support/supervision. With support from the CHANGE committee and Advonet’s Senior Management Team and Board, the post holder will be responsible for collating outcomes, feedback and statistics and providing reports.
The Chief Executive of Advonet will line manage the CHANGE Manager. The Chief Executive and CHANGE Manager will together keep the CHANGE committee informed of CHANGE’s progress. This is an exciting time and the CHANGE Manager will be the vital key which unlocks the CHANGE team’s potential for success in this new venture.
