No need for a sign saying
CRIPPLES KEEP OUT
When triumphal stone flights
Of stairs
Smugly bar the way to
the art gallery
the library
the committee meeting.
Not that it was deliberate you understand,
They were far too nice for that,
They simply forgot
To think that we might want to
Get in
Take our share
Play our part
Claim some space.
Perhaps they had in mind
That our place
Was outside
With begging bowl in hand.
