Journal summary.
LDPO is putting together a literary journal exclusively for disabled writers! Similar to the ground-breaking journal that opened for submissions earlier this year, Disabled People Destroy Science Fiction, this journal will accept works from writers who identify as disabled, though the works themselves do not strictly have to be about disability related subjects. See below for guidelines relating to each form of work.
1. Short Stories.
Short stories should be no longer than 1,500 words. They do not have to be related to disability politics/identity. You are permitted to submit as many short stories as you like, however, due to limited space, and also depending on the volume of submissions, it is more likely than not that only one of your short stories will be published in the final journal.
2. Poetry.
Poems should be no longer than 300 words. They need not be political in nature, though this is suggested as a topic. Like short stories you are permitted to submit as many poems as you like, but the same limitation may apply.
3. Short Essay.
Short essays should be no longer than 1,500 words. They may cover any topic that interests you such as politics, history, or your daily life, etc. Short essays need not be expressly political and like short stories and poetry you are welcome to submit as many essays you like but the same limitations apply.
