Do we still judge books by their cover? We are all guilty of judging others at one time or another... through assumptions or misunderstanding, personal experience or fear but what if we moved passed judgement and actually get the chance to get to know each other?

Here at the Human Library we want to give people from different backgrounds that chance and gently break down some of these judgements to help create real connection and understanding between different people through conversation.

Many of us have experience of being treated differently or even badly based on other's judgement of us and many more of us have seen this happen to other people but how often do we get to openly talk about it or get challenged on it or get listened to about it? This event is that opportunity... come down and say hello, borrow a human book and have some free tea and cake.

This is a free human library event and every reader is welcome... so, if you're interested in having a chat to us about this or finding out more, come down to our event on Sunday the 29th of October.

The Human Library is an international movement that provides a framework and guidance for communities and community organisations to create a positive environment and space to have conversations to challenge discrimination and prejudice and broaden people’s views and understanding of difference.

The Human Library asks volunteers who have experienced discrimination and/or prejudice to become ‘books’, allowing people to ‘read’ them by asking them about their experiences.

Through open and respectful dialogue, the book and the reader get to know each other over FREE tea and cake…

This is a facilitated event within a relaxed and welcoming community environment full of people who will be equally as as curious, nervous and willing to learn something new as you… so book your free place here
